Library

The electronic library of Northern University has been operating from the begining of 2007-2008 academic years. It is equipped with 10 modern computers and the Internet. The electronic library opening was especially good for the students of the Departments of Journalism and Computer Programming. This is evidenced by the fact of their active use of the electronic library. That activity is derived from the profession: students of the Department of Computer programming become professional doing practical work, and the students of the Department of Journalism, who are aware of everything, increase media resources due to connection. Law students are less active as they use a compueter for typing course and diploma works, or accsessing legal sites. Students of the departments of Economics, Philology and Foreign languages show an average activity. Pedagogy and Psychology Department is the most effortless , because computer has no "spirit". Among the users there are also the members of the University administration and teaching staff, who use electronic library for doing various work concerning the chairs. New electronic library was renamed after Kamo Udumyan according to the decision of the University research council, made on September 15, 2008. Kamo Udumyan is a well-known party and state figure, a diplomat. He is a doctor of historical sciences. In wide public areas Udumyan is recognized as a prominent state and public figure, who has an outstanding contribution to the culture, higher education and science development in Armenia. According to the decision of the educational and methodological council of the University, made on September 18, 2008, and according to the rector`s order on September 19 of the same year a scholarship after Kamo Udumyan was meant, which is awarded on a competitive basis to 4 students of any faculty of Humanities, who have manifested excellent progress, exemplary behavior and social activism during at least 4 semesters.
Actually 280 members use the electronic library. Students do not waste time in electronic library for establishing acquaintances, because it is prohibited to use such sites. Computers are for doing necessary works and getting information. The electronic resources and electronic books of the library are generally in Russian language. The electronic library is the favorite place of many students.
