THE MEETING OF TWO “NORTHS” WAS ZOOM PLATFORM

COVID-19 is not an obstacle for establishing new international connections, knowledge generation, and effective intercultural communication. On April 30, the  students of the Department of Professional Pedagogy (English Language and Literature) of Northern University, English language lecturers and administrative staff had meeting  with Alex Lowry, lecturer, doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With the help of interactive methods (surveys, practical assignments), Alex Lowry was able to engage participants in a class dedicated to the peculiarities of the Academic Writing of English  enabling students to ask questions about their concerns in a variety of written assignments. Alex Lowry also touched upon the issues of proper use  of style in academic writing, preparation of materials and utilization of effective tools.

The  next online-lesson  will be about the peculiarities of style of the American Psychological Association (APA style), which is widely used in academic and scientific writing.
